Whilst we take our responsibilities and obligations to our Tenant Partners and stakeholders extremely seriously, we take ourselves somewhat less so!

Aaron Brown

Co-Founder

Together with Mark, Aaron co-founded Red Oak Taverns in 2011 with the acquisition of 32 un-loved and un-invested pubs from Lloyds Bank. Prior to pub and property entrepreneurship, Aaron worked in private equity, investment banking and, somewhat briefly, as a lawyer at the US firm Shearman & Sterling. Aaron’s at his happiest drinking ale at a Red Oak Tavern, skiing powder in Colorado, cycling in the mountains or watching any of his three sons play (ice) hockey. Prior to founding Red Oak Taverns, Aaron and Mark worked together for many years making and unmaking a number of pub, leisure and retail investments. Believing that football should be a shared experience with his French wife, Aaron started supporting Arsenal 20 years ago.

Mark Grunnell

Co-Founder

Prior to co-founding Red Oak Taverns with Aaron, Mark had previously led real estate teams at two of Europe’s major banks prior to moving into private equity where he met Aaron. During that time, Mark sat on the board of several managed and tenanted pub companies, hotel investment companies and real estate investment companies. Mark is married with two children and enjoys golf, skiing and music and, whilst he previously set his sights much lower than Aaron (football wise), this season ticket holder of Wolverhampton Wanderers is currently enjoying the resurgence of this famous football club.

Nathan Audas

Operations Director

Jamaican born and the son of a brewer, Nathan ‘cut his teeth’ as a publican, running pubs throughout the UK after having graduated from the University of Sheffield. Moving to area management and consultancy roles for various companies in both the managed and leased/tenanted sectors, his passion still lies with all that is the British pub, and its hard working publicans. Nathan has been working with Mark and Aaron since 2011 and is now settled in the East Midlands with his wife and 2 children. Like Mark and Aaron he enjoys football, just a different code! An avid Leicester Tigers and real ale fan, Nathan will be found at the bar!

Graeme Bunn

Property & Acquisitions Director

Graeme, has spent his entire professional career within the leisure & hospitality property market advising property owners, operators, and investors across the whole of the sector, but always with a core focus on pubs.  With Board level experience from 7 years as Managing Director of a leading firm of Chartered Surveyors, he is at ease at senior level, yet is equally at home with owner operators and can articulate complex issues to all who are interested or invested in pubs.  After advising Red Oak on every acquisition since it was founded by Mark & Aaron in 2011, Graeme joined the team in 2022, to provide both property and strategic advice, and to finally put his money where his mouth is.  A champion of the underdog, he is a Mansfield Town supporter, and would ideally spend his weekends either skiing or surfing.
